A little over a week ago, HTC made good on its earlier promise to bring the latest version of Android over to the HTC One in Europe. Unfortunately, the UK, Ireland and Spain were left out on the latest Jelly Bean goodness – until now.
Before you can snag the update to Android 4.2.2, you’ll need to keep an eye out for a smaller 1.5MB bugfix update. Apparently this fix is needed before the Android update can be pushed out to your phone.
So what’s new in the 4.2.2 update? Besides usual suspects like lock screen widgets, quick settings, Photosphere and Daydream, there are also some pretty cool HTC One-specific changes.
For starters, the update allows you to long-press the home button to bring up the menu app, getting rid of the dreadful menu bar. Other changes include six new themes for Zoe highlight reels, improved auto focus, and the ability to see battery level as a percentage in the status bar.
As to be expected, the update might take a few days to roll out to all users in the UK, Ireland and Spain. If you aren’t sure whether or not the update is available to you just yet, you can always manually check for an update by going to Settings > About > Software Updates > Check Now.
