There’s a massive two inches in difference between their displays, but screen size is not the only thing separating the HTC One Mini and the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3. One is made of sleek aluminum, the other from sturdy plastic. One impresses through hardware, the other boasts a wide arsenal of software features.
Both the One Mini and the Galaxy Mega 6.3 are now available in AT&T’s online and physical stores.
Going for $99 on a two-year agreement, the AT&T HTC One Mini costs $430 outright or $350 if you choose a one-year contract. That’s the cost of the 16GB Glacial Silver model, the only one currently on display on AT&T’s site.
The One Mini is a great option if you’re looking for a compact device with good specs and even better design. Mostly a shrunk down version of the popular 4.7-inch HTC One, the One Mini features a 720p display and a slightly slower Snapdragon 400 processor, though it keeps the many of the hardware features that made the One a hit, including the BoomSound sound system and the UltraPixels sensor camera. Design-wise, the Mini sports the same sleek aluminum unibody of its bigger brother, though some may take issue with the plastic frame that surrounds it.
On the other side of the Android flagship spectrum we have the Mega 6.3, Samsung’s unabashedly huge Galaxy S4 lookalike. The 720p resolution of the Mega 6.3’s LCD screen is the obvious weakness of this otherwise intriguing device. With a 3200 mAh battery, a Snapdragon 400 processor, and 8MP camera, the Mega 6.3 is a decent smartphone-tablet hybrid that could hit the sweet spot for people that don’t want to mess with carrying around two devices. The Mega 6.3 comes with most of the software features of the Galaxy S4, packed in the same exuberant TouchWiz overlay.
